A diesel fuel system can be pretty complex. As with gasoline, fuel is stored in a tank, but it has to go through two pumps and plenty of fuel lines before it reaches the injectors. Some systems also include a 6.7 Powerstroke fuel cooler, which improves performance by keeping the fuel below a certain temperature. Colder fuel is denser, so just like an intercooler allows more air to make its way into the engine, a fuel cooler will give you a touch more fuel and the performance boost that comes with it.
