The Duramax V8 engine is made for General Motors diesel trucks. From 2001 to now you’ll find them in Chevy and GMC diesel trucks. It’s also an option to have one installed in pickups, medium-duty trucks and vans. You’ll find the Duramax LB7 in the Chevrolet Kodiak, GMC Topkick, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD. If you have a 2006 Hummer H1, a mid-2004 to 2005 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra HD you most likely need Duramax LLY parts. Starting in late 2006 and going to early 2007 the Duramax LBZ was introduced. It is the most sought-after engine due to its reliability, strength and it was pre-DPF (diesel particulate filter). Was your GMC or Chevy truck made between mid-2007 to 2010? You will have the Duramax LMM engine. It was the only model offered for 2007 to 2010 diesel trucks. In production from 2011 to 2016 is the Duramax LML 6.6L. It’s a further advanced version of the LMM engine but with a drastic reduction in engine emissions. The latest version of the diesel engine is the Duramax L5P. This engine was introduced in 2017 and is the most powerful diesel engine that GM has ever made generating 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. The Duramax engine is marketed as a competitor to the Dodge Ram Cummins diesel engine as well as the Ford Powerstroke diesel.
