A fuel system may seem like a simple concept. Fuel, which is stored in a tank, is pumped to the engine and burned as needed. But sometimes, things get a little more complex than that. The fuel injection system on a modern diesel requires high pressure, so a 6.0 Powerstroke fuel pump alone just won’t cut it. That’s where a 6.0 Powerstroke lift pump comes in. The lift pump moves fuel from the tank to a second, high-pressure pump, which then distributes it to the engine. The lift pump 6.0 Powerstroke ensures that diesel moves through the fuel system consistently and the high-pressure pump has enough juice to do its job properly. +Read more
Another component, the 6.0 Powerstroke fuel-sending unit, measures the amount of diesel you have left in the tank. This is particularly important as you really don’t want to run out of fuel in a diesel as it’s a pressurized system.
Unlike a gas-powered vehicle, where you can just add more fuel and go, a diesel vehicle has to have its fuel system bled to purge any trapped air before you hit the road again. An empty tank can also cause damage to the high-pressure side of the fuel system, so make sure your 6.0 Powerstroke sending unit is in good shape and your fuel gauge reading is accurate. If it’s time to give your fuel system a refresh, then a 6.0 Powerstroke fuel pump replacement or a 6.0 Powerstroke fuel pump upgrade.
While stock parts will make the vehicle function like new, you may also want to consider aftermarket parts like the Airdog lift pump 6.0 Powerstroke. Aftermarket parts may be cheaper in some cases, more reliable, or simply perform their job better. So don’t be put off a part simply because it doesn’t have Ford on it. You’re just getting more options when aftermarket parts are on the table.
