Your 7.3 Powerstroke exhaust also powers the vehicle’s turbocharger. The exhaust system’s 7.3 up pipes send gasses through the turbocharger’s turbine which in turn drives the compressor. The compressor then forces air into the engine. While an issue with the 7.3 exhaust isn’t always the cause of a failing turbocharger, it’s something you should look into. If the exhaust system is at fault, then it’s usually cheaper to repair than the turbocharger itself.
On the other side of the engine is the 7.3 intake manifold, which feeds air into the engine. The 7.3 Powerstroke intake manifold is one of the most vital components of the vehicle as, without air, there is no combustion. A leak in the manifold can reduce the amount of air going into the cylinders, which will severely hamper an engine’s efficiency and performance. This is why it’s important to check the condition of your intake manifold and its gaskets from time to time. You should also check the 7.3 exhaust manifold bolts. Missing or damaged bolts can ruin the exhaust manifold’s seal.
So while a 7.3 Powerstroke exhaust system may just seem like a tube that carries exhaust gasses away from your engine, it’s actually a fairly complex and essential part of your vehicle. So maintenance is key at the very least, and an exhaust upgrade may be a simple way to make your vehicle more efficient.
